Everything you need to know about Impact crates for dogs (my opinion and their owner’s comments)

These impact crates have become popular nowadays and they are on the pricey side too.

Though I have not bought these crates, I reached out to some people who have them (some had good things to say while some had bad things) and I have also done serious research for you guys who want to buy it.

Let us begin with the types of crates they sell, they sell collapsible crates, stationary crates, and anxiety crates. All the types of crates they make are airline-friendly.

The collapsible impact crates have sizes up to 54″, come in various colors, the crates are foldable, are made of aluminum, they are airline-friendly when used with a door guard attachment and IATA brackets which are found on their website.

The collapsible impact crates are easy to set up, they are easy to open, they have ventilation holes of 0.817″, they have military grade handles, and like-sizes can be stacked on each other to save space.

The stationary crates are like the collapsible crates but they are not foldable and it is cheaper and stackable, and their sizes stop at 48″ and not 54″ like the collapsible crates.

Their high anxiety crates are said to be escape-proof, it is backed by a 10-year dog damage protection warranty, have sizes up to 48″, have one zinc-plated paddle latch and four butterfly latches on the door, are not foldable, have 0.05″ ventilation holes that prevent dogs from getting their teeth in it.

I noticed that for all types of crates, the grey color is cheaper while the other colors are the same price.

The aluminum alloy used for the high-anxiety crates is 62% thicker, these crates can be stacked and they also have military grade handles.

Before getting to the remarks given by dog parents who own these crates, let us look at other things you should know about the impact of crates like shipping, returning, and exchanging.

They use UPS and FedEx for all crates except the 54″ and 48″ crates and your shipping address has to be in the contiguous states but if you ship a large amount of crates or stay outside the contiguous states, they will use LTL Freight.

If your crates are shipped with FedEx or UPS, you don’t need to be at home during delivery but if your crates are shipped through LTL Freight, you would have to schedule an appointment.

Shipping to places in the US takes about 3 to 7 business days and it is free if your order is over $100 and if your shipping address is within the contiguous United States. There are additional shipping costs to Alaska and Hawaii.

I found out that it takes more time to ship some colors like pink, OD green, teal, and tan.

Though the price is high, they use flexible financings like Affirm, Splitit, and PayPal Credit that allow you to pay in installments.

These crates have a life guarantee for any manufacturing defects and not normal wear and tear.

They allow one free product exchange per order for undamaged products if you live within the contiguous 48 states however if you stay outside the contiguous states, you can initiate an exchange but you pay for return shipping through freight and you would also pay to ship for the new product sent.

The exchange is valid within 10 days of receiving the product and you need to keep the packaging because that is what you will ship it in.

If you are returning the impact crate for a refund, you would pay for return shipping and you have 30 days to return unused products.

You can also LEASE the impact crates, you will be making reoccurring payments for the use of crates and can stop and return to Katapult at any time.

I have GOOD NEWS for some people, they offer 20% OFF to NON-profit organizations, the military, and first responders.  You can apply if you are a police, firefighter, EMT, veteran, active military personnel, owner or employee of a non-profit organization.

Now, let me tell you about the comments I got from dog parents who own or have owned impact crates.

Some owners have positive to say about the impact crate like “It is the best for their reactive dog”, “it is strong and has enough space for the dog”, and “I use it in the car and it has worked so far”.

There were also bad comments about how their customer service is bad, they are not as strong as they say, and about how the crate rattles but I found out that the crate rattles because the rubber stopper on the inside of the door has fallen off and the company will replace it for free if you contact them.

My opinion of the impact crate is that they are effective and good but they are not as perfect as they portray themselves.
