When my dog gave birth, she gave to about 14 puppies and she was not a large dog she was medium-sized. I got advice from my neighbor to check the puppies’ weights every two days and as I did this, after some days, I began to notice that their weight was reducing every time I checked and I also noticed that some of them were acting very weak.
I asked for advice and I was told that my puppies were not getting enough milk because of their number. I was told to try homemade formulas and after much research and advice, I found the ones that were best and also got my vet’s approval.
In this post, we will look at the best homemade puppy formulas. I will be sharing different types with you; the homemade puppy formula with goat milk, the ones with cow milk, the ones with yogurt, the ones without yogurt, and so on.
Best homemade puppy formula for newborns
Before I begin, I would like you to know that the other homemade puppy formulas that I mentioned in other categories work excellently for newborn puppies too, it is just that when my puppies were newborn, they liked this one more.
Ingredients you would need:
12 oz of goat milk, 1 cup of plain whole milk Greek yogurt, 1 egg yolk (egg whites can lead to biotin deficiency which can cause impaired growth and skin issues), 1 teaspoon of light corn syrup ( I prefer the brand “karo”), 1 pump of pet nutri drops.
Steps
Add all the ingredients with the measurements above, in a blender. put the blender on and let the ingredients mix.

Best homemade puppy formula with evaporated milk
Ingredients you would be needing: 1/3 cup of liver water( I would teach you how to make it),
1 can of evaporated milk ( a can is usually 12 FL OZ but it is okay if the one you have is a little bit more, or less than that. Not all evaporated milk are good for puppies, I wrote a post on the best ones I know),
1 cup of full-fat yogurt, 2 raw eggs yolks, 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil, 1 drop of baby vitamin( get the one without iron), 1 teaspoon of light corn syrup( I prefer the brand “karo”), and 2 tablespoons of unflavored Pedialyte.
Steps
To make liver water, boil a calf’s liver for 8 to 10 minutes and then strain it, you can store it in the refrigerator.

formula 1
Ingredients you would need: 1 cup (240 ml) of cow’s milk, 3 egg yolks, 1 drop of nutri drops (if available), I tablespoon of corn oil, and a small pinch of salt.
Steps:
Add all the ingredients with the measurements above, in a blender. Put the blender on and let the ingredients mix, warm to 95 -1000f.

Formula 2
Ingredients you would be needing: ½ cup(120 ml ) cow’s or goat’s milk, ½ cup (120 ml) water), 2 to 4 egg yolks, 1 to 2 teaspoons vegetable oil, 1000 mg calcium carbonate (if available).

Note: The homemade puppy formulas without yogurt are for temporary use only until you can make any of the other formulas we looked at in this post. The other ones we talked about are okay for long-term use.
You should consult your vet before using any of the homemade puppy formulas because puppies are different, what worked for mine might not work for you.
