It is processed in a unique, specially developed process to achieve the highest quality and maximum effect, making it safe and healthy for your pet.
Is plaque off powder safe for dogs?
I have carried out research on the ingredients and they are all safe for your dogs but if your dog is suffering from hyperthyroidism, you should ask your vet before using it.
The first ingredient “kelp” is not harmful to your dog, you can feed it to all ages including puppies and seniors as long as you feed it the right portion for its weight.
Dogs can have ½ teaspoon per 10 pounds body weight per day, they could also have more than that but should not take more than 3 spoons per day.
The 0.08% Natural iodine in the plaque off powder for dogs is also not harmful to dogs.
Iodine is not a harmful mineral and it can benefit your dog’s health. However too much iodine is not good for your dog but you don’t have to worry, the iodine in this product is 0.08% which is very small.
The 5-8% Crude protein in the plaque off powder for dogs is not harmful to your dog.
The Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) and the European pet food industry (FEDIAF) recommend a minimum crude protein concentration of 18.0% on a dry matter (DM) basis for adult maintenance dog food.
If 18 % is the minimum for foods that means 5-8 % would not hurt.
The 2-4% Crude fat in this product is also not harmful to your dogs.
The Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) minimum crude fat level for dogs is 5% for adults and 8% for puppies. The term “crude fat” is used on nutrition labels to note how much total fat is included in the product.
And your dog is not taking the whole powder in one day, just a scope or two.
The 15-27% Crude ash in this product is safe too. Crude ash is just some minerals that your dog needs to be active.
The Crude fiber is <8% and is beneficial to your dog’s health.
How does plaque off powder for dogs work?
The kelp in plaque off powder is known to contain a bacterium known as Bacillus licheniformis, which produces an enzyme that works to protect against tooth decay by stripping bacteria away from plaque.
A study published in the Journal of Hard Tissue Biology examined the potency of calcified seaweed as an ingredient for preventing root cavities.
They treated a dentin block with an aciduric treatment, formulated in part from calcified seaweed, and dipped it in a demineralizing solution. The result was that the treated side experienced less decay than the untreated side.
This means kelp has antibacterial properties that break down the biofilm that causes plaque. In other words, kelp: Softens tartar.
Kelp is also effective in improving your dog’s breath.
Natural iodine also helps to prevent tooth decay and gum diseases.
Do vets recommend plaque off powder for dogs?
Yes, plaque off powders for dogs is recommended by vets but most importantly, it has the Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC) stamp.
The Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC) accepted certification mark is a registered certification mark of the Veterinary Oral Health Council.
It is given to products that are safe to be given to your dog orally.
However, the VOHC above is a special one that exists to recognize products that meet pre-set standards of plaque and calculus (tartar) retardation in dogs and cats.
Products are awarded the VOHC Seal of Acceptance following a review of data from trials conducted according to VOHC protocols. The VOHC Seal is displayed on products that have been awarded the seal.
I did further investigation and found a list of products given the VOHC stamp and the plaque off powder for dogs was there.
I did this because some products could fake the stamp.
How to use plaque off powder for dogs
Here is the dosage plaque off powder for dogs, for dogs less than 22.1lbs: one scoop per day is enough, for dogs between 22.1lbs to 55lbs: 2 scoops per day, and for dogs more than 55lbs : 3 scoops per day.
Plaque off powder should be sprinkled over the dog’s ordinary food, wet or dry, once a day with the supplied scoop (there is a scoop spoon that comes with plaque off powder).
How often should I use plaque off powder?
As long as you are giving your dog their recommended scoop once a day then you could keep on using it for as long as you want.
How long does it take plaque off to work?
It takes about 3 to 8 weeks of consistent use and the correct dosage to see the effects of plaque off powder for dogs.
The condition of the plaque in your dog’s mouth can also affect how long it takes to see effects, older plaque and tartar will take longer to remove than newer plaque and tartar.
Side effects of plaque off powder for dogs
Plaque off does not have any side effects but some of my friends have complained that it upset their dog’s stomach but that was because their dogs have sensitive stomachs, so their vets suggest they reduce the dosage and it stopped.
If the plaque off powder for dogs upset your dog’s stomach, the best way to resolve this is to reduce the dosage and then gradually increase it again.
If your dog has a sensitive stomach, you can start with a lower dosage.
Can plaque off be put in water?
Direction from the company, states that it should be put in ordinary, wet or dry food, so I would not recommend you put it in water.

Important things to note while using plaque off powder for dogs
Before you start using this powder, check your dog’s iodine levels, if it is higher than normal, ask your vet if you could still use plaque off, and if he/she says yes, ask for a suitable dosage.
While using this product, I recommend you should randomly check your dog’s iodine level sometimes.
Also, using this product does not mean you should not brush, brush your dog’s teeth regularly for better and faster results.
