Best dog nail file board that helps reactive dogs

My friend once had a reactive dog that became very hostile when they tried to trim her nails. They tried different things like nail clippers and low-noise nail grinders but were still unsuccessful until they bought a dog nail file board and it worked.

So for this post, I asked for their recommendation on the best dog nail file boards they have used and those are the ones we will be looking at in this post.

LOVE YOU studio pally pad

This is a 13″L × 9″ W × 1″H board with sandpaper on the top. This dog nail file board has a hidden treat drawer that can be opened and closed. You open the drawer to show your dog the treat repeatedly then close it for them to scratch on the sandpaper.

After some scratches, you should let them have the hidden treats.

This nail file board has two types of anti-slip adhesive floor pads: black rubber single-sided pads for carpets, wooden floors, and tiles and transparent double-sided pads for wooden floors and tiles.

This nail file board comes fully assembled with 1 extra sandpaper and 8 anti-slip adhesive pads.

Zenly paws dog nail file toys

This is an independent dog toy with puzzles. How this toy works is that food is put in a compartment in the toy and when your dog paw-scratches the top of the toy it releases some kibble, however, the top of the has replaceable 80 grit file paper which files your dog’s nails.

This toy has anti-slip pads at the bottom. I like this toy because you just have to set it and forget it.

The toy is round and it has a diameter of 10.24 in and a height of 4.25 in. it also comes with instructions on how to use it.

FearNotNails dog nail file boards

FearNotNails dog nail file boards

This is a 26in × 11in bamboo board that has sandpaper on both sides; one side has soft grits while the other has hard grits.

To use this board, you reward your dog with treats for stepping on it, hide a treat under a wash cloth then reward them when they scratch the board, gradually increase the angle of the scratchboard and repeat step 2, and finally remove the treat and encourage the dog to scratch, once they do give them treats.

Lovintry M-shaped dog nail file board

Lovintry M-shaped dog nail file board

This is a 16 in by 9.6 in by 2.7 in dog nail file board. This board is M-shaped because they are of the belief that flat dog nail file boards don’t trim the side nail and with the M-shaped board you can target all the nails at once.

The board is made with thick, quality plywood and it is stable when laid flat.

This nail file board also comes with extra sticky sandpapers.

When using any of these dog nail file boards, you should use treats to teach your dogs how to use them because it would be easier and they would be calm and comfortable.
